The head of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Mahmoud Abbas ruled out the possibility of renewal of peace negotiations with Israel without a complete cancellation of settlement activities.

Disagreement of the conflicting parties in the matter of construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank of the Jordan river, is considered to be the main reason for the stagnation of the regional peace process, which forced Abbas to declare his unwillingness to be re-elected to a second term.

“The return to negotiations is caused by the fact that Israel government should adhere to the principles of the peace process, which includes cancellation of all forms of settlement activity including natural growth and construction in East Jerusalem,” - Abbas said on Wednesday at a ceremony devoted to the fifth anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Yasser Arafat.

The Israeli government run by the representatives of right-wing camp, is ready to talk about the temporal and the partial moratorium on the construction of settlement and thus calls on the Palestinians to resume negotiations immediately without preconditions.
