Two Israeli envoy sent to Washington in order to prepare the ground for a new round of talks with representatives of the Palestinian Authority. The Prime Minister Binmina Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak will meet with the special U.S. envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, tells the Voice of America.
Later this week, the representative of the Palestinian Authority, Saeb Erekat, met separately with Mitchell.
Last week U.S. President Barack Obama has tried to give new impetus to the peace process in the Middle East, meeting with both leaders. Barack Obama tried to convince the parties to reach a compromise.
According to the Prime Minister B. Netanyahu, the parties generally agree that peace talks should resume as soon as possible and without any preconditions. But Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that talks can not begin until until Israel stops building settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
