IDF gradual withdraw troops from the Gaza Strip under a temporary truce with the Palestinian radical movement HaAMAS, the Israeli newspaper “Ha’aretz” informed on Monday.
Israeli troops and tanks began to leave the region the previous evening, but, according to the Israeli command, the army is ready for any escalation of the situation.
According to Israeli officials, the troops will completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip before the inauguration of Barack Obama for the presidency of the United States, which will be held on 20 January.
The representative of the Israeli government, Mark Regev did not confirmed the dates for troop withdrawal. He only said that if in the Gaza Strip the situation will be calm, the Israeli army will immediately withdraw troops from there. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that Israel had no plans to maintain its military presence in the Gaza Strip.
